Granblue Radiance – 9/1/2016 Detective Barawa and the Unfortunate Fortune
Event Time: 7PM August 31st – 5PM September 8th (JST)
How To Progress In The Event
To start, the event has 6 Event episodes that require 0 AP to do, and tell a the story of the event. There are some cute puzzles at the end of some chapters. But even if you fail them, you can just skip them instead of trying again.
Solo Battle Portion
These battles are eventually unlocked as you progress through the story. You should do them to get the initial Treasure Crystals. They drop bronze/silver badges and a meager amount of Honors, but they also drop the materials for summoning the Very Hard difficulty event raid, which is the primary purpose of these solo battles.
As you progress through the story, you’ll eventually be forced to fight these raids. This is where you’ll get the bulk of your Gold Badges, Honors, and Event Draw Tokens. If you’re too weak to take these on alone, don’t worry about opening the battle to strangers, you’ll still get the Treasure crystals for the first clear and be able to continue the story.
As always, the more damage to deal to the bosses, the more Honors you get per given battle. Furthermore, if you are the person who starts the battle, or gets MVP, you will get a bonus Red treasure chest and extra Event Draw Tokens tickets.
Usually what you do is summon and kill the Extreme boss enough times and you’ll randomly get access to a solo Hell battle against the event boss. Clearing this gets you a Blue Crystal and also unlocks the R/SR versions, so it’s worth doing if you are strong enough. It costs 0 AP, so you can also use it as a free chance to get extra Gold Badges and Honors/Event Draw Tokens.
After you finish the Hell battle, you can do restricted Hell battles that award a merit. They are the same difficulty as a normal Hell, so if you aren’t ready for these, they are a waste of AP, as you don’t get your AP back for failing these.
Event Specific Rewards
SR Barawa – One of the most popular characters gets an upgrade to the SR rarity. His skills are unique and interesting to use, so it’s definitely worth grabbing him if not just for the 50 Crystals for his fate episode.
SSR Summon Treant – This summon is not a bad wind summon for starting players, although the active effect leaves a bit to be desired. It starts with a 40% Wind Character ATK with no particular drawback. It has a new effect called Blow Away, which might be useful for some special situations.
Ent Ripper / Ent Harp – The Katana comes with Wind ATK UP, while the harp comes with Wind Critical Rate Up. The Katana can be used in a lower level Wind grid and there aren’t many Wind Katanas in the game naturally, while the harp is mostly junk unless you absolutely need a Wind Harp.
Fangorn – This Wind axe comes with Wind HP Up and also gives a defensive bonus for the first 4 turns. The base attack power is worse than Tiamat Magna Axe and the secondary skill isn’t that great, but if you haven’t finished a Tiamat Magna Axe, this could hold you over. Otherwise, it’s worth just
Getting SR Barawa (Fire)
You get this character by starting the event story, and as usual you need to build up Loyalty points with them in your party to keep him after the event is over. You need 750 points to keep them after the event, so put then in your party and fight together with them. You will get roughly 80% of the way there if you solo all the content by clearing the story alone, though.
The SSR Summon
You can get one via Total Honors, but you’ll need to use Event Draw Tokens to get the remainder out of the box. You can also get one via a rare drop from the raid bosses in the event.
Challenge quests have not been added yet, but may be added later.
A special battle with only preset characters. Though this battle has been confirmed on the official website, there hasn’t been any confirmation on how to unlock it, so it may be a time unlocked quest.
Daily quests have no been added yet, but will be added later.
There are now daily rewards for this event. This particular one says to enter and win 5 event raids. It seems these rewards seem to refresh daily, so if you’re hungry for crystals, this doesn’t seem like a bad way to go.
Getting Event Rewards
Bronze/Silver Battle Badges – As usual, there isn’t anything particular good in this category for collecting Bronze or Silver badges, but you’ll probably eventually end up with a bunch of them just trying to get materials to open Raids. You’ll end up picking extra JP, tickets, Raid materials, and an SR weapon here or there in this category, but it’s nothing to aim for specifically.
Gold Battle Badges – You get these by fighting the event Raids. Most of the rewards are similar to the Bronze and Silver Badge category this time around, though you’ll get more Event Draw Tokens and materials to summon the Very Hard boss battle. In particular, the final reward at 300 Gold Badges is another SSR Weapon.
Total Honors – There are a ton of Supreme/Champion Merits in the Total Honors, so if you’re in need of them, you can collect quite a few here. You’ll get the majority of your event weapons here as well.
Also remember, the Flohrenberk (Point Dagger) works for this event, so if you’re looking to collect lots of Honor points, make sure it’s in your weapon grid somewhere. It doesn’t have to be in your main hand.
Event Token Draw (Event Gatcha) – The main prize of every box is the special event summon. There aren’t any AP Potions in the box, so the only reason you’ll refrain from resetting it ASAP is that you want extra CP (JP) from the box. It’s a matter of how much you want CP you want from the box before you reset it.
